Songs of Praise at Bolton Station!

26th September 2023

The latest exhibition currently showing in the P5 Gallery at Bolton Railway Station celebrates Platform 5 in all its glory! ‘Hymn No. 5’ is an exhibition of paintings by Bolton-based artist Phil Porter. Formerly a resident artist at the station, Phil is fascinated by the architecture and movement there and this series of his work explores the platform at different times of the year and through changes of weather.

Platform 5 has a long history, being part of Bolton’s original main station which was on the opposite side of Trinity Street and was demolished in the 1980s. This unique exhibition has paintings inspired by the platform in a gallery situated on the platform, surely one of a kind in the North-West – if not the whole country!

The exhibition is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 1 pm to 4pm until 5th October and by invitation or appointment with Phil, philporter114@gmail.com
